Social Decay

April 6, 2009 | Category: Bands, Social Decay | Leave a Comment

A new band to add to the list. These guys had their first gig together at Shirley’s pub in Kells over the weekend. Unfortunately, the pub was a typical “bogger” old mans pub with its set crowd and no real interest in heavy metal and rock music. The guys did their best and performed from start to finish un-phased by the flies buzzing around the room. Hope to see them play somewhere a little suitable like cleeres or the pumphouse sometime soon.

Its been a while since i have uploaded anything i have host of random stuff to get up over the next few weeks. Also have a few gigs coming up soon so hopefully we should have some good from that too!

I haven’t brought my camera out with me in quite some time and i must admit, it is annoying as hell. Went to the Can Can Casino lastnight in Kytlers in, and although it wasn’t the best set of dance and solo performances i had ever seen, there was a lot of ideas and shots i would love to have tried out. Maybe next time.

Shown above is two shots from a Teirpark in Bielefeld, Germany. Great day and excellent stuff to see. I had being slacking quite a bit with taking photos of this beautiful city but i think these two are enough to show from what i did take.

This year saw a slow down in General Rock, there was no summer concert, no organised gigs or promotions at all. Thats not to say general rock has being thrown out the water, its saying that everyone in g-rock cave is flat out with lots of personal projects going. The two boys, adam and steve have opened their comic and gaming store in highstreet called “the shadow gallery”. I was running a graphic design and print house with Tame guitarist and g-rock resident MC Norm Power which has also taken a little back seat due to the rumor called…. the recession!!! dun dun dunnnnnnnn!!! And… Evan, well… he’s still in school! Poor guy! So all in all, there has being very little energy left to throw this years concert and deal with cock fire chiefs and venue owners afraid to try something worth while and we all apologise.

However, i have begun some work with a new promotions company setup by local prog rock legend James Doran, or Jimi Trigger, or countless other names he can go by, it really depends on the day of the week. The company is called Trig Promotions and you can find them here on myspace and bebo to learn more about the fresh new outfit and what is has to offer. Word has it, its run by mother fuckin gangsters.

Shown above is a group shot of Chemical Addiction, Trig and Boo and Hero in Error taken in cleeres after what can only be described as an indescribable gig (go figure!).

I love shooting these guys. All of them are so energetic on stage, especially that ciwi chap. You better be nice to him though cus he might delete you off myspace!! These shots are of a recent gig in cleeres run by trig promotions. As usual, the guys played a stormer and got everyone in the mood for what was an excellent night! Hope you like the photos.

Ok, these two guys showed the entire of Cleeres lastnight, that music and performance dosent have to be heavy, loud or have people with long hair, or any hair for that matter (sorry boo!). A fuckin awesome gig and i really really can’t wait to see them again. I highly recommend checking out Trig and Boo as soon as you can… otherwise they’l fuck your mother…..or your sister!

I have never seen this band before and i had only heard great things about them. Having supported mastodon i should bloody hope so! These buys followed an extremely hard act to follow (trig and boo) and busted the remaining life out of Cleeres. Everyone was moshing and jumping around the place, a whirlpool of hair!!!

At this point of the night, my hangover was pretty much gone, however, my eyes were still fucked ( i blame mario kart on tuesday night….6 hours!!!!). However, miraculously i managed to get a few good shouts out of the guys and hope you all like them.

As always, feedback is much appreciated!
